FLOW ASSURANCE FOR FIELD DEVELOPMENT

This figure shows how an ideal production profile is typically affected by ESP failure and inefficiencies. Soon after installation, the ESP fails (an infant mortality) and there may be delays in accessing a rig to pull and replace it. The replacement system may then perform sub-optimally because its design is based on the limited data gathered during early production. To avoid further delay, the second system may be run sub-optimally to destruction. A third ESP may be more appropriately designed but its initial rate is constrained in the interests of longevity. The fourth ESP has a longer run-life however runs sub-optimally in later days.

This figure shows how the same sequence can be managed using the ZEiTECS Shuttle. Again, an ESP infant mortality may be experienced but, with wireline retrieval and replacement, there is minimal deferment. If a sub-optimal system is installed, the operator has the option of retrieving it immediately and replacing it, rather than letting it run to destruction. Overall, production remains very close to the ideal profile.

The ZEiTECS Shuttle can also be installed initially on well completion with a test system to evaluate well performance or a rugged sacrificial system to clean out the well at startup. ESP system lifetimes can be protected and extended by preventative maintenance which, if phased at regular intervals, will keep overall field production rates at a consistent level.
